Charlotte Sweater (Dress)

It features a cozy high turtleneck and your choice of balloon or straight sleeves. A standout feature of this pattern is its versatility—it includes an optional dress modification, offering three different lengths: standard sweater, short dress, or long dress. It also includes 3 different options to work the bind off.

The sweater is knitted seamlessly from the top down. The turtleneck is worked by picking up stitches along the neckline.

The Charlotte Sweater is an oversized sweater with a positive ease of approx. 16 - 22.5 cm [6.25 - 8.75 inches] compared to the body bust circumference. The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL correspond to a bust circumference (of the body) of approx. 74 (84) 94 (104) 114 (124) 134 (144) 155 cm [29.25 (33) 37 (41) 45 (48.75) 52.75 (56.76) 61 inches] respectively. Keep in mind that the final measurements of the sweater already take these extra 16 - 22.5 cm [6.25 - 8.75 inches] into account. Ease is a personal preference. Take the necessary measurements to determine the right size for you before you start knitting.

The dress lengths are a suggestion. You can easily adjust the length to your own preference. Know that you will need more yarn if you want to lengthen the dress.

If you want to use another yarn or yarn combo, you will need approx.:

Length 1 - Sweater: 1050 (1150) 1250 (1400) 1500 (1650) 1750 (1850) 2000 m of yarn.

Length 2 - Dress ‘short’: 1400 (1550) 1750 (1900) 2050 (2275) 2450 (2600) 2750 m of yarn.

For reference: I am a size S, but I prefer a more oversized fit sometimes, so I made both size size S and size M.

Sample 2 (Size M) - length 1 - sweater: ‘Puno fine’ in the colour ‘greige’ from MAJO Garn.

• knit & purl
• make increases on right side and wrong side (M1L / M1R)
• work back & forth as well as in the round
• 'Ruke bind off' OR '2x2 Italian bind off' OR '1x1 Italian bind off
• Picking up sts to work the neck
